A study of the principles of appropriate singing diction. Specific study of the International Phonetic Alphabet (IPA) will precede an introduction to French and German languages. Students will be required to study and perform art songs, operatic or oratorio literature from the French and German vocal repertoire.

Prerequisites: MUTH 1340, admission as music major, or permission of instructor.
